Can you see how excited we are about our cold water swimming chat with @cindywerhane this Tuesday?

Cindy is a local open water swimming enthusiast with a big heart and a long list of accomplishments. She’s swam around NYC’s Manhattan Island, completed an ice km (a kilometer of swimming in water under 5 °C with only a standard swimsuit), and attempted an ice mile. She also swam around the clock on one of her recent birthdays—–one mile for every hour, starting at the top of the hour, to log 24 miles for the day. These are just a few of her many feats.

Most impressively, though, she remains a humble inspiration, describing herself as “just an open water swimmer who likes to share my love of the sport and what it can offer you physically and mentally.”

Our hearts are with the residents of nearby communities who’ve been displaced or impacted by the Oregon Wildfires. We hope they are safe with their families, friends, and beloved pets. If you’d like to support the American Red Cross, you can text 503-226-5088 with the word “relief” and make a donation to the Northwest Response Fund. Some other great ways to contribute to the relief efforts are offering time, service, or supplies to emergency shelters, as wildfire evacuees need food, water, clothing, first aid, and emotional support from caring first responders, frontline workers, and volunteers. Even a small gesture, like a blanket sent from afar, could help someone begin to heal and rebuild their life.
